Boy Scouts - BSA Rock Climbing Merit Badge Program:
Climbing and rappelling on real rock cliffs in the beautiful Devil’s Lake State Park is a fun and exciting way to challenge Scouts and allow them the opportunity to advance themselves in Scouting. Scouts can earn all of the requirements for the Climbing Merit Badge with the exception of the first aid skills (requirements 1 and 2). Prior to the actual climbing day, Scouts will participate in a ground school, which teaches them basic skills necessary to participate in climbing. This training allows Scouts to gain a basic understanding of the systems involved before actually climbing. The climbing day will focus on providing Scouts the opportunity to complete their climbs, rappels and belays for the merit badge. Rope care, verbal commands and all aspects of maintaining a safe climbing experience are reinforced throughout the day. Classes of climbing and rating systems are also discussed.
Girl Scouts - Individual Troop, Council, or Camp Trips:
Girl Scouts of all ages and abilities are invited to experience the thrill and adventure of climbing outdoors on real rock cliffs! Physical activity and personal goal setting help encourage a positive self-image among girls. We put this in the context of a fun-filled day, surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery. Participants gain confidence in themselves through the physical, mental, and/or emotional challenges of climbing. Trusting others, overcoming obstacles, and realizing their potential in a safe and supportive environment are additional benefits that will last longer than just the climbing day.
Vertical Adventure Guides Adventure Teen Camp Programs are located in the breathtaking Devil’s Lake State Park and the surrounding area in the heart of SW Wisconsin. We have two unique programs, ‘Regular Camps’ (ages 13-18), and ‘Senior Advanced Camps’ (ages 13-18) all which run on various dates in the summer.
Our programs have been created for climbers that want to "go to the next level" in rock climbing, taking part in trips that traditional summer camps simply cannot offer. Our Camps are ideally suited for rock climbers that want to not only climb tons of rock but also learn about the equipment, techniques, and most importantly safety skills of climbing. We cater to first-time climbers through to advanced teens who may compete at local or national climbing competitions.
Not only do we climb but we mix it up with kayaking, caving, hiking, and 4 wheeling. Each trip includes GoPro video cameras to capture the memories of a lifetime! SD cards with camp video footage are available for purchase at just $40 each for you to keep!
• Our Instructors are not just 18-20 year olds on summer break, they are full time professional instructors with Vertical Adventure Guides. They are well credentialed and certified instructors.
• Our Camps uniquely small. We cap our camps at a maximum of 10 climbers in each program to create an unparalleled learning environment.
